I have been part of the building industry all my life.
Born in Croatia I was influenced by the need of doing everything for ourselves along with my Dad’s and his father’s years of work in lumber mills and cabinet shops. When we came to the USA my Dad continued in the construction industry first as a carpenter than as a business owner with my Mom.
I went further to school, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Economics and Political Science along with studying and speaking some foreign languages. During those teenage years, starting at 13 years of age, I worked as a laborer, apprentice and carpenter. As I finished high school I had my own crew working for a developer building over 45 apartment units in Oakmont. My college summers and at times during the year was spent working in my parents business. After graduation I continued to work with my parents for 2 years as a project coordinator, estimator and office manager.
In 1979 I started my business doing larger projects with multiple crews.
Over the years we have built many homes, additions, restaurants, office spaces, commercial buildings and many other varieties of projects. We refurbished complete downtown office floors to building Adirondack style post and beam homes on the rivers edge and working on Planned Unit Developments (PUD). We have become a full service company doing small jobs with our repeat clients along with the capability of doing turn key operations.
We have our business and home on 25 acres in West Deer Twp. Candy and I have been married for over 30 years and have 2 children. Anne Marie will graduate from Chatham University in Marketing and Business Degree. Adam has graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters Degree in European Public Policy and Business from James Madison University in Florence, Italy. Throughout their years they have played a variety of sports along with their school activities where I have coached or we have just been good fans. Anne Marie has been on the Chatham University softball team for 4 years as a pitcher and now teaches pitching to our young players at our local school.
Adam is momentarily joining us in our business as a 4th generation builder as he pursues his government affairs career. I hope this overview of our business and my background has given you the opportunity to see how we have been enthralled in the construction business for many years.
